Breast augmentation, also known as breast enlargement, is a cosmetic procedure that improves the size and appearance of the breasts by implanting  silicone breast implants under or over the chest muscle. Women who want larger or fuller breasts frequently get this treatment. There are many types and shapes of the breast implants. Breast prostheses are made of silicone gel or saline. Because of their increased durability and natural appearance, newer silicone-containing implants are preferred. Silicon implants can be round or anatomical in shape. Round implants will typically achieve a fuller upper pole (the top portion of your breast), while anatomical implants lend a gently sloping look to your breast profile. The placement areas of breast prostheses are mainly; armpit, nipple and its surroundings, belly button and lower breast folds, which is the most preferred place. 

The incision places of breast implants are mainly; periareolar, trans-axillary and inframammary, which is the most preferred place. Breast augmentation scars are typically only a few centimeters long and are placed in such a way that they fade over time.

You should stop smoking two weeks before the procedure. Don't take blood thinning medication, alcohol and supplements for one week before the procedure. 

 

The operation is performed under general anesthesia and duration of the surgery is between 45 minutes and 2 hours. The day following the procedure, the patients are discharged.

 

You can take shower three days after your breast augmentation. 3 days after silicone breast augmentation, you can resume normal activities such as going for a walk. You can return to work 7-10 days after surgery. After your breast augmentation, you will need to wear a supportive surgical bra for 6 weeks. Heavy lifting should be avoided for two months.
