Liposuction
Liposuction surgery uses a tube and a vacuum device to remove unwanted fat.The most common areas for liposuction are the stomach, flanks, upper back, lower back and thighs. Liposuction is mainly a body shaping procedure, not a slimming procedure. It is a very effective technique for removing resistant regional fat that diet and exercise cannot remove. If you are bothered by saggy excess skin, lifting surgeries (abdominoplasty, tight lift, arm lift, back lift) may be a better option.
Vaser Liposuction, an alternative to standard liposuction, uses ultrasound technology to break out fat cells with minimal harm to the surrounding tissue. Vaser technology provides a faster and better recovery than traditional liposuction.
You should stop smoking two weeks before the procedure. Don't take blood thinning medication, alcohol and supplements for one week before the procedure.
The operation is performed under general anesthesia and duration of the operation varies according to the number of areas where liposuction is performed.
After the procedure, a compression garment is used to reduce swelling and aid in body contouring. It is recommended to use the corset for 6 weeks. After surgery, patients should begin light walking around the room. Our patients will be hospitalized for one night following surgery and will be discharged the next day. Your drains will get removed some days after the surgery (depending on the amount of fluid).
It is recommended to drink plenty of water, move around, not to consume alcohol for 1 week and not to smoke. The first shower after surgery is usually taken on the fourth day, and you can return to work within 10 to 14 days. After procedure, we recommend our patients manual lymphatic drainage massages for 6 weeks. After six weeks you can resume your workout.
Full recovery from swelling and bruising may take four to six months, depending on the amount of fat removed and the areas treated.
