Breast Reduction
Breast reduction surgery, also known as reduction mammoplasty, is used to reduce the size and improve the shape of the breasts. Women who are candidates for this procedure typically have physical symptoms related to their breast weight or shape. Back pain, neck pain, and bra strap grooves in the shoulders are among the symptoms.
In these situations, sagging and extra weight in the breasts can be removed through breast reduction surgery, and the person's problems can be addressed. Lifting the breast also gives the body an attractive image. The individual will be able to wear more comfortable bras and have greater freedom while selecting clothing as a result.
Breast reduction surgery has a wide range of established approaches. These techniques leave a variety of shapes and sizes of scars. These marks typically take the shapes of a "Reverse T" or a “Lollipop”.
The nipple and areola may occasionally need to be surgically removed and reapplied as a graft in order to reduce very large breasts. Loss of nipple feeling and difficulty to breastfeed will come from removing and reapplying the nipple/areola tissue.
You should stop smoking two weeks before the procedure. Don't take blood thinning medication, alcohol and supplements for one week before the procedure.
The operation is performed under general anesthesia and duration of the surgery is around 3 hours. The day following the procedure, the patients are discharged.
Recovery usually takes one to two weeks. Within that time, the majority of patients resume their regular activities. After two months, you can resume strenuous activities such as carrying heavy objects and stretching.
